Fabric Master API: Validate an Illustrative Estimate
Understand the local calculation endpoint, request boundaries, and the limits of its heuristic output.

What the endpoint does
The application provides POST /api/v1/capacity-evaluation for the same heuristic workload calculation used by its server implementation. It validates a request shape and returns an estimate; it does not connect to your tenant, inspect live metrics, or request a Microsoft purchase. Check the source implementation and deployment configuration before integrating with it.
Prepare a minimal request
The request includes regionId and currencyCode, plus dataFactoryInput, sparkComputeInput, and powerBiInput objects. The pipeline input describes monthly pipelines, average activities, and data volume. Spark inputs describe nodes, cores, and daily runtime. Reporting input describes peak concurrent users and a complexity scale. Use synthetic values for an initial integration test and do not send confidential architecture notes merely to identify a scenario.
Handle both success and failure
Send JSON with the appropriate content type, check the HTTP status, and inspect the returned success field before using the recommendation. Test missing fields, negative quantities, malformed JSON, boundary values, and an unavailable endpoint. Preserve request identifiers and sanitized error details so integration failures can be diagnosed without logging private source data.
Interpret the response carefully
Capacity, price, risk, and confidence values are model assumptions or heuristic outputs, not measured probabilities or a vendor quote. A planning score does not establish an observed SLA. Before automating a decision, compare the result with actual workload evidence, verify current regional prices, and define an explicit review step. The browser wizard and a public API have different transmission boundaries: a request to the endpoint is sent to the hosting service. Avoid claiming that an API call remains entirely inside the browser.
